Washington Beer Commission Open House This Saturday!!

This Saturday, February 26, 2011 (TOMORROW)  for approximately 4 hours, you should go on a tour of the local craft brewing industry.

The Washington Beer Commission organized an Open House of sorts where local breweries open their doors to beer lovers providing them with the good stuff to make this an epic Saturday afternoon. From 12PM-4PM you can plan your route or pick an area of Washington to tour:

Washington v. Oregon: Let the Games Begin

SBW continues today with Firkin Firkin- yes this is a picture of a firkin.

We are neighboring states, we enjoy beer together and make good beer together, but tonight at Elysian Brewing Co.’s Capital Hill location, Washington beers will be up against Oregon beers at Seattle Beer Week event, Firkin Firkin. All beers will be in cask conditioned firkins.

Belgium Beer Fest: Santa Monica, California

This is just the beginning of a two-week festival featuring, you guessed it, Belgium style beers.  Guests can purchase a logo Chimay glass for $15 and refill it with one of the 8 rotating Belgian handles for only $5 during the entire two weeks of the festival. Each beer will be on for one keg only, so once its gone.. its gone.  This event stars: Goose Island‘s Matilda, Urthel Hop-it, Russian River‘s Consecration and many more.

Tour de Pints: Seattle, Washington

Grab your helmet, check your brakes and jump on your bike.  Today is full of physical activity rewarded with plenty o’ beer. The Seattle Beer Week website states:

The 2010 Seattle Beer Week Tour de Pints, a bike ride with stops at some great beer bars, is now upon us. If you were there last year, we will be following a very similar route. Only one Feat of Strength this year as we hope to keep the group more together. We plan to spend about 30-45 mins at each location.

Route is as follows:

11am – Pike Brewing; Brouwers Cafe; The Dray; Naked City Taphouse; Fiddlers Inn (FOS) or Latona Pub (FOW); Shultzys Sausage; Whiskey Bar and Elysian Fields.

Tonight is the unveiling of four in house brews by Naked City, Seattle’s local beer bar. The Big Lebrewski, an Imperial Cream Stout aged on Kahlua soaked oak is featured along with the Yankee Drifter, a light Pilsner, Hoptari 664, a fresh- hop harvest ale and Bing, an English Style Old Ale with a surprising twist!

Join Goose Island’s Market Manager, Eric Hobbs as he pours Bourbon County Stout 2007, 2008 and 2009. This Imperial Stout is one of the best and this is a wonderful chance to compare and contrast the taste through the years.

Oregon’s Rouge Brewery will feature their Chocolate Stout, Yellow Snow, Hazelnut Brown, Mogul, Brutal Bitter, Dry Hopped Red, Imperial Porter, Collaborator, and Dead Guy. The Hazelnut brown is a dark ale with an amazing nutty, sweet flavor that does not overpower the beer. A must try!

Cask Firkin of Old Bawdy: Seattle, Washington

Tonight, the 74th Street Ale House is featuring Pike Brewing’s 2009 Pike Old Bawdy Barley Wine. Come join Pike headbrewer, Drew Cluley, and sales manager, Andy Walls when they raise a pint of the 09 vintage of Old Bawdy.

Holiday Folly for Charity: Fort Collins, Colorado

Tour of the brewery begins at 3:45 PM, event from 6:00 PM- 10:00 PM @ New Belgium Brewery

Come listen to live music, partake in a silent auction, sip on some amazing New Belgium brews and you might go home with a New Belgium Crusier! All proceeds go to the Larimer County Food Bank and New Belgium is brewing a “special” beer just for this event.
